This tutorial will provide you (Joomla Webmasters) with guide during the development and search engine optimization of your Joomla website. The information covered in this article may help you improve your search engine rankings.
I would strongly suggest you do not introduce the following approach when optimizing your Joomla website:
Do not include hidden text within your web site
Some web masters have being known to include hidden text using targeting keywords on web sites to move up the search engine rankings.
Google can spot this and will penalize your web site.
Use of Images
While working in SEO, images form an important part for the promotion of your site and for increasing web page rankings.
But many people set the irrelevant images to their content which make no sense to the attraction of the readers or viewers. So always set an image’s filename in relation to the content of your webpage.
Avoid cloaking
Cloaking involves dynamically generating thousands of keyword rich web page's using server side scripts which only the search engine bots can see but the end user can not. Some Webmasters have introduced this approach to gain a high ranking which may work in the short term but in the long term it will fail and your site will be penalize or from the search engines
Avoid automated submission web sites
You may have seen web sites selling services which include submitting your Joomla! web site to hundreds of directories for a few dollars.
We recommend you avoid using automated submission services which basically submit your site to hundreds or low ranking link farm directories which have no relevence to the services you are offering.
Don’t Include Your Company Name into the Title
If you also keep your company’s or blog’s name into your title, avoid it. Because it seems like advertising to SEO searches. Instead define a tag line to attract the visitors and appeal them to read or view the site.
You can further put your company’s name into the text but avoid it in the main title.
Avoid Keyword Stuffing
Keywords are one of the most important parts of any SEO but stuffing the keywords at your site is not a good habit.
As this will annoy the readers and they might leave your site, so avoid the repetition of same keywords here and there. According to SEO experts, the keyword density should not exceed up to 4-9%.
Avoid Non-quality Backlinks
A majority of SEO users think that working with lots of back links is a good thing to get top rankings in search engines. But the fact is that having too many back links sometimes make the web page undesirable and also affect the reader’s response.
